How we charge
When dealing with pensions on divorce, the last thing you need is added confusion. That’s why we’re clear and upfront about the fees you’ll pay if you decide to enlist the help of our experienced specialists.
Pension sharing reports
Every pension sharing report is different, so we quote a bespoke fee for each case.
Our basic report fee is £2,250 + VAT. This would typically be a case involving three or four pensions involving equalisation of income and offsetting calculations.
The general rule of thumb is that the more pensions involved and the more calculations requested, the higher the fee. That’s why we encourage you to limit the number of calculations requested to keep fees as low as possible. It’s often more economical to get an initial report and then ask for additional calculations subsequently.
There are a few complexities that can add significant cost to a pension sharing report:
- The existence of overseas pensions
- Excluding pre- or post-marital pensions from the calculations (“ringfencing”)
We provide an outline quotation at the outset, then as part of the initial file review carried out upon instruction, we’ll confirm the guaranteed fee. Sometimes the instruction changes or more pension schemes are identified. In the interests of transparency, all parties will always be included in any correspondence.
Other work
Using our unique combination of financial planning know-how and pension on divorce expertise, there are several ways we can help support you or your clients during the divorce.
Taking each case on its merits, we can provide an individualised fee for any case once it’s been discussed and agreed that we can help. Indicative costs are explained below.
We also undertake work on an hourly fee basis – please contact us for further detail.
| Task | Fee |
| Helping to draft letters of authority | £275 to £500 |
| Shadow expert work (e.g., scrutinising another expert’s pension sharing report and providing a summary) | £500 to £1,000 |
| Cashflow modelling to show how the settlement might work in practice | £1,000 |
| Post-divorce financial planning | £1,850 |
| Pension sharing implementation | £2,500 to £5,000 |
Please note: the fees shown don’t include VAT (where applicable) and assume there’ll be one meeting to present and discuss our findings.
